The UKPT is delighted to endorse a new series of videos which explain what paruresis is and describe what can be done to overcome it.

The videos, which can be found on the link below, have been put together by Martin Burridge. Martin is a trained counsellor with experience of working with anxieties and phobias who now works in the space industry. As Martin explains on his YouTube channel, he had some spare time because of recent lockdown restrictions and turned his attention to creating informative animated videos about anxieties and phobias. Like the Workshops which UKPT runs, Martin's videos use the approach of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to explain how paruresis works and how it can be alleviated. He has made these videos freely available to all. The UKPT even gets a shout-out at the end of video six!

Whilst we encourage those with paruresis to consider attending a UKPT Workshop and/or working with a therapist these videos provide a great overview of the condition and how to treat it. They may be of particular interest if a Workshop or therapy is not possible for you, or if you would like help in explaining what paruresis is to someone else.

There are six short videos in total and they are intended to be watched in sequence. You can find them in this playlist on Martin's YouTube channel here:
