Toilets and schools

Here at UKPT we often hear from many people who live with paruresis that their peeing problems started during their school days. Sometimes it was due to bullying, sometimes lack of privacy, sometimes poor hygiene in the toilets. But I was amazed to read this article about a school near Liverpool which is not allowing children to use toilets during lesson times unless they have a note from their doctor www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-n...vidence-use-24003935

This feels wrong to me on so many levels. From a lack of human rights, the development of poor toilet habits, not to mention the potential embarrassment and indignity for girls who are maybe on their period and need to visit the toilet urgently. I had a delve and found this article on the subject on the human rights website Each Other eachother.org.uk/do-school-toilet-polici...reach-pupils-rights/

Food for thought, especially for those of us who have children or grandchildren and are keen to make sure that they develop the healthiest toilet habits possible throughout their childhood.
