I’ve just come across this site so apologies if this has been asked before. I’ve suffered with paruresis since I was 18. I’m 77 now. I can manage in cubicles but urinals- no chance. Until recently, and finding this site, I thought it was pointless at my age to try and change but having read about various methods I intend to try. It came to a head when I was unable to function on a long haul flight. Until then, behind a locked door I could usually manage. It came as quite a shock.
My question is have any other members succeeded or even made progress after such a long time of inability to “ act normally”.
Hi Phil
Well the oldest participant we have had on a workshop was 85. He thought he was too old to benefit but I persuaded him otherwise. He attended two workshops two months apart. After that he reported that he had been trying to think of a believable excuse for not flying to his son's wedding. After the workshops he told us he had booked the flight.
Another was 75 and only wanted to be able to cope with going to the pub with his mate. He too got what he wanted.
So dont hesitate, book on. You will find it surprising in more ways than one.
All the best
Andrew
Thank you very much for your speedy and very encouraging reply Andrew. Are they physical meetings or online?
Hi Phil
Glad my reply hit the target
You can find info about the workshops on our website. Click on the tab Workshops. You can then get back to me as needed.
Cheers
Andrew
