The next UKPT women’s support group is on Wednesday 16th September at 7.30pm — and all women who experience paruresis are very welcome.
Never been before? Think of it as a chance to spend an hour or so with people who understand the slightly bizarre world of paruresis without you having to explain why “just go to the toilet” isn’t actually a helpful solution! ?
We chat about how we manage things, swap tips and experiences, celebrate the times when things go well and commiserate when they really, really don’t. And yes, we usually have a laugh too — because sometimes you have to laugh at the ridiculous lengths we can all go to in order to find the perfect toilet.
There are usually around 6–8 people, so it’s a small, friendly group rather than a Zoom room full of strangers staring at you.
And there’s no pressure to speak. We normally ask everyone to introduce themselves, but if you’d rather keep your camera off, listen in and get a feel for things first, that’s absolutely fine. Just let me know beforehand.
So if you’ve ever found yourself thinking:
“Is it just me who does this?”
“Why am I walking past perfectly good toilets in search of a better one?”
or even…
“I really hope nobody notices what I’m doing…”
…come along. You’ll probably discover you’re very much not alone!
