Not directly a paruresis issue but I found this article very interesting - I'd had no idea how the lack of public toilets for women in the past had been used to keep us "in our place". Listed status for toilets that helped free women from 'urinary leash' However uncomfortable life currently is under covid, this makes me very glad to have been born in the later part of the 20th century.

This reminds me of a description of an extended French family traveling by car. It pulled up a the roadside and the men alighted and stood in a row to pee; grandpa nearest the car, youngest child furthest way. The women stayed in the car.
