Reply: Looking for a urologist to get catheters

I would think you will need a referral from your GP, some Docs are helpful and understanding ( mine was) but others are Dinosaurs and know ( or cant be arsed to know) nothing about this. If its the latter stand your ground and take some literature from here as a back up, its a serious matter and a recognize condition.Sometimes private hospitals will accept a paying patient with no referal, they seem to have different policies, although money always talks!

Hi everyone,
I have seen some posts that have lots of promising stories on Intermittent Self-Catheterisation on the forum.
My shy bladder is not terrible, but I have problems in very high-pressure situations, particularly on flights. I always managed this by not drinking or getting quite drunk to pee, but I do not like this at all. I prefer to learn how to do Intermittent Self-Catheterisation, just to have a fail-safe way out if needed.
I have a long flight coming up in two months and I really need to learn how to do Intermittent Self-Catheterisation.
It is possible to get the details of a UK-based urologist who is accommodating for this condition ??
I am willing to book privately as the NHS route will be a long and painful path, been there and done that without any results. I am based in London, so it would be great if someone knows a doctor in the area.
