I've struggled with this problem since the 1970s and would encourage any fellow suffers to attend a beginners workshop. If you've already been to your first workshop and are considering a follow-up I can highly recommend it.
The beginners session is totally confidential and non-judgemental, you're surrounded by fellow suffers as either students or facilitators. I was nervous only for the first few minutes and my progress over that weekend far exceeded anything I could have imagined.
My follow up after that initial wave of euphoria and progress was not as good as I planned and so I attended a follow up session. Once again I was a little nervous to start because I really didn't think I'd made the progress I could have, but that lasted only minutes. The facilitator quickly put me at ease and the stories from the other people were inspirational. Some had really made progress since the beginners workshop, others like me had not. As in the beginners workshop the progress I made was unbelievable and while I certainly am not finished yet, I do now have a clear plan and am working through it.
I would urge any fellow suffers to attend either a beginners or follow up workshop, you have absolutely nothing to lose.
