I don't see a future living with this was created by Ben97
I'm 22 years old, I've had this for as long as I remember and it's just getting worse all the time. I've been to multiple therapists for CBT and it hasn't worked at all. I have tried antidepressants too. I just can't imagine myself having a future especially when shy bladder syndrome effects me in my own home (I live with my parents).
I really don't know what to do anymore. If anyone has any advice I'll gladly appreciate it. Thanks.

Hi Ben,
We at the UKPT can help you; we have helped others in the same situation. Get back in touch by email to the address in the Contact menu, and we will take it from there.
You probably feel on your own with this; well, no longer.
Till then
Andrew

Posted on behalf of Stephen for Ben
Ben, I really feel for you and can relate to what you're going through. I was in exactly the same situation at your age - also at home with parents and a toilet with unsympathetic acoustics! Sometimes I also felt life was not worth living, with the stress of the condition and the effect it was having on my nerves and social life.
Eventually I found some coping mechanisms, largely through densense, confiding in people close to me, meditation and yoga. Recently I have been practising Eriksonian hypnosis and so far the results have been really positive. I have also utilised mental triggers that enabled me to pee in front of my 13 year old son during a recent camping trip (what a feeling!)
If I can do it despite 40 years baggage of negative mental conditioning, you definitely can!
More than happy to share more info if you'd like to email me (Andrew can provide details).
Meanwhile, hang in there and start believing you have the potential to beat this. Because, believe me, you do.

Hi Ben.
Firstly I wanted to say I’m so sorry to hear this condition has made you feel so bad and that I’m sympathetic to your feelings.
I am more than twice your age and was just a few years older than you when I started suffering with what I later discovered was called paruresis.
Well into my fourties, I decided to go to the workshop and the follow up workshop and not only were they great & very helpful but my paruresis hasn’t been as much of a problem for me as it was.
I SO wish I’d known about this problem and that there was help for it when I was in my twenties and you are lucky to know about this workshop to get help and support so please attend the workshops as soon as you can.
You can chat privately to any of the guys running the group if you need to as they fit time in to do so.
Seeing as everyone suffers with the same condition there is NOTHING for you to feel embarrassed or ashamed about.
Sending you my very best wishes.
