Hello - I'm so glad you've found this forum and hopefully we can offer some suggestions to help you move forward with this.
Have you had a chance to have a good look at our website where there's lots of information about paruresis and suggestions about how to overcome it? There's a page specific to women's issues which you might find useful. You'll also see that we hold workshops which many people have found to be very helpful.
We're holding our next online workshop on 5th December - is there are any possibility that you could book onto that? There will be other women attending and a female assistant leader so there will be plenty of female company.
I realise this is possibly quite a big step for you. Would you like to have a chat on the phone about it? I'd be happy to do that. If you drop a quick email to admin@ukpt.org.uk I'll get back in touch with you and we can arrange a suitable time to talk.
Kind regards
Ann

Hi, I'm looking for any tips or advice people have used to help with paruresis. I've always had mild shy bladder in public washrooms, but it never really impacted my life. Recently I started having paruresis at home and it's been hell. I tried distraction, sounds like turning on fan or running water, got a lock on the door, deep breathing, gradual exposure. Nothing is really working and it feels like torture. I can only fully go when the other person I'm living with is asleep (even when they're out i sometimes feel pressure to go before they come back) so most of the day I can only slightly empty my bladder. Some days it goes away completely and some days it's full force and I have to stay in a hotel. Anything that has worked could help, thanks.
