I should mention that seeing I’ve used private cubicles 709 times may cause you to think I’ve done the ok thing & used them because I’ve been too uncomfortable in the moment to use a urinal but actually you wouldn’t be completely right.
There have been times when this was the case but there has also been a lot of times where the building I’ve been in has only had a cubicle in it for unisex use.
Another reason would be say there were just two urinals in the gents & I used the cubicle out of convenience.

Hello Forum Fellows!

It’s been six & three quarter years since I went to my first workshop.
One of the things suggested to us was to keep a diary of our visits to the toilet, using our own personal coding system, if preferred, to make these diaries understandable to oneself only so that what you’ve been doing stays private to you if someone else reads your diary behind your back.
I bought a diary immediately & have bought one every year since without fail.
I don’t take a diary with me when I go out. If I’m going to town for a short time I fill in the diary when I get home & if I’m out for an evening around the pubs or having an afternoon out somewhere I take a piece of paper with me & write down each result when I leave the gents by using my coding system (you could use your mobile phone to do this if preferable or more discreet).

What you shall read below is a record of my successes, my misfires (yes misfires, NOT failures! - remember that gents!), my faked it & my latent urination in public urinals, private cubicles & public places from Jan 31st 2016-Oct 16th 2022. (latent means not immediate but peeing after a period of waiting of it to happen) .

Please note that the numbers would have been higher if it wasn’t for the fact that I wasn’t able to practice during times of the pandemic & also a period of serious ill health. There are the extremely rare occasions where I forgot to make note too.
One of the public conveniences I used regular has also been closed down & was in a convenient spot to go before I left town.

So here are the statistics...

2,922 recorded visits
1,675 at public urinals
709 in private cubicles
29 in public places

12 misfires at public urinals
0 misfires in private cubicles

11 faked it at public urinals
0 faked it in private cubicles

28 latent at public urinals
0 latent in private cubicles

0 misfires in public places
0 latent in public places
0 faked it in public places

The remaining numbers are a combination of using the toilet at a mate’s house & using the toilet at home.
I live in a flat where the floors aren’t sound proofed & you can hear each other using the toilet which I hate & has often caused me paruresis.

Total of non-latent successes: 2,872
Total of successes after latency: 2,900

Some of the misfires have been my own misjudgment (yes misjudgement, NOT mistake!) & I made notes in my diary as to why I had these misfires.
Some were due to level of urgency, some were due to bladder having less urine left in it during practice than I thought & some were a mixture of those two factors caused by over keenness to have another success.

The public places are bushes I’ve had to urinate in when I’ve been out for long walks with friends across fields & there are no public conveniences.

I have only been to one workshop and one follow up workshop & the key to so much success for me has been a combination of the great workshop itself, the workshop leaders, the other paruresis sufferers, putting in hard work of learning things over & over from the paperwork we took home, practice & determination.
I also met up with two guys off the forum & the three of us together supported ourselves on monthly pee buddy outings in town.

From practising so much I can tell you these things...

You don’t realise how many times you’re the only one in the public conveniences & therefore have no need to be worried.
Before you had paruresis you wouldn’t have even thought about whether or not there was anyone in there or how many were in there.
You don’t realise my last point until you’re used to my first point.

So gents...here’s some tips!

If you’re going out for the night, have anything to drink before you go out, top up your bladder after with water if necessary & don’t go to the toilet before you leave home.
If your level of urgency is quite high then you will need to go soon when you get to your first pub.
Pee for a few seconds & stop.
Join your friends & drink more & soon your level of urgency will be high enough to go again.
If you are going to work or for a swim, retain a level of urgency, don’t go to the toilet before you leave home & then use the toilet as soon as you get there. You can completely drain off of you like.
If you are going to a gym you can do the same as above or you can do the pub method as above.

Good luck to you all and thanks for taking an interest in my blog.
