Just to say that I have attended two of these workshops, a long time ago now (8, 10 years?) and they were great. I had suffered, like you, from about 11 years old and it had blighted my early adult life. I decided that I'd challenge myself by trekking with a group in China and so I needed help to be able to tackle the peeing situations I'd find there!
De-sensitising helped but in the end I got a back up, which were some small handbag sized catheters that I took with me. I went to the doctor and he prescribed them but you can also get them from Coloplast, online. Sounds extreme but knowing they were there in an emergency helped me to relax. 10 years later, having gone through that experience and lots more besides, including stuff like childbirth (I took my catheters then too) I don't think about paruresis and I really think I'm over it. I suppose it's because I have to pee with the door open these days because I have two small children I need to keep an eye on all the time!! I never thought that would happen, believe me. Now I have other worries of course - if you're a worrier, you're a worrier. Best of luck to you anyway. I'll probably just post this and run as I don't really visit this board these days but I thought I'd just send you a few words of encouragement. x225
