With the majority of sufferers it is the last thing they want to talk about but once that barrier has been broken it is then possible to start to overcome paruresis.
Andrew is definitely worth speaking to. I have attended 2 workshops and have always found him very understanding and helpful.
Other than that I would recommend the book Shy Bladder Syndrome, which details desensing techniques.
As I said at the start, it is good if your son begins to deal with and tackle his phobia sooner rather than later. I am in my twenties and only recently began my road to recovery, having suffered since child hood. This has affected my work and social life as well as my education, but nowadays my situation is greatly improved thanks to Andrew's help and my own improved attitude. I know that several people have only starting to treat themselves in their 50s or 60s and have been successful in doing so, and the general consensus is the younger you are the less years of bad habits you have to undo.
I wish you and your son all the best.902
