I really feel for you mate, before I went on a workshop I had the same outlook on life. However, since the workshop my life has greatly improved. I still feel very alone at times and have huge issues from my chilhood to deal with. For this, I am now seeing a psychotherapist. My first session was, similar to the workshop, filled with anxiety and distress, however, once I got talking to the therapist, my worries were soon put at bay.
The great thing about this particular therapist is that, when I mentioned AP, she had a vast knowledge about it and knew of the website too!!
Joe, there are situations out there (in some/ most AP's loads of them) which make us feel so distressed and alone. However, there are just the same amount of people with experiene and compassion to help guide us through. It's not an easy road, there are times when I feel like saying f**k it, what's the point in going out. I just have to keep telling myself that every outing is a challenge to my AP and sociol phobia so, therefore, IS worth the effort.
I don't know about you, but I have constant support from those around me. If i'm hurting inside, I just talk to those whom I close to and get it off my chest. Small steps my friend, that's the only way.
