A big thank you to Jonathan, Mark and Ann for all your support, sensitivity and kindness at the excellent workshop last weekend. It is difficult to describe to people who haven’t attended one of these how uplifting and positive it is to find ways of moving forward to tackle paruresis, and it is also great to be with other people who share the problem, and with whom you can chat without embarrassment or having to explain anything. The whole atmosphere was of mutual understanding and support, both between the leaders and participants and between the participants themselves. A workshop isn’t an instant cure but it does provide you with the understanding of the condition, and the motivation and techniques, to enable you to work towards an improvement and lessen its negative effects. No-one is put under any pressure, and whether your paruresis is mild or severe, and whether you are male or female, the workshop is tailored to meet your needs and wishes. It doesn’t have to end there either, there are follow on workshops and people often keep in touch to support each other in the future. Much better than being alone with the problem. So if you’ve been too nervous or doubtful about booking a workshop I would say go for it, and I’m sure you will be glad you did. It was lovely to meet you all, thank you for your company and I hope to see you at a follow on workshop. Jane
I'm really glad it was such a positive experience for you Jane. Not least, as you say, it's good to know that you're not alone and to be able to speak openly about your issues without explanation, and even with a smile!
