Hi - I'm really pleased to see this. I've had a lot of problems in the past, now fortunately largely, although not entirely, in the past. I had found the messageboard very helpful from time to time, but as a woman on a board which was dominated by men' issues I found it hard to get past the notion that I shouldn't be having a problem. I do hope it proves to be useful.

Hi Ann
Welcome to the first one to post. As you say: I hope this proves to be useful.
Your comment that you "found it hard to get past the notion that you shouldn't be having a problem" is interesting. About half the men we deal with fall into one of two categories: those who struggle to use cubicles and those who struggle to use domestic toilets. Not so different then?
Best wishes
Andrew

feel much more comfortable to participate in the discussion using a womens' board as my paruresis is due to being prevented from the toilet during the night by my father throughout my childhood. Having said that I have spoken to a trusted male friend about my condition and feel pleased that I have.
