I haven't experienced exactly the same but in the past I have developed some slightly bizarre habits around peeing. For instance, one time I couldn't manage to get started in a public toilet - it was summer - I slipped my sandals off because I was getting hot and frustrated, and suddenly found myself able to pee. I convinced myself that if I had barefeet I would be able to pee more readily, so after that if I experienced problems getting started I would slip my shoes off and often found that I managed to get started. I can recognise that as illogical, but at that time it formed a connection which enabled me to use toilets out and about so it served a purpose for me. It does linger on and although I largely manage without significant problems these days, I sometimes find myself slipping my shoes off if it seems to be taking a long time! (I also wonder if the cold of having barefeet acts as a stimulus to the bladder - goodness knows!)
That's just one example - I do have a few other odd behaviours associated with it but that's enough for now! What I have learned over the years though is that you do what you have to do, and that might be different for you and I but if it works then that's fine! That's how it seems to me anyway.162
