This was on the back of the french actor Gerard Depardieu urinating into a bottle while standing in the aisle of the plane because the cabin crew would not allow him to go to the toilet as the plane was getting ready to take off
Great interview. The exercise he mentioned of going into a toilet when you dont want to go is very good. I did this and it was a turning point for me. It is even better to it in the context of a behavioral experiment as follows: Write down what you worry will happen beforehand. e.g. people will look at me like Im strange, someone will comment etc Then go into the toilet and stand at the urinal. Try to stay for a few minutes. You will feel the urge to leave but try to stay. Let the anxiety pass. As you leave observe other people. Is anyone paying any attention to you? Afterwards write a few sentences on what actually happened. e.g nobody seemed to pay me any attention. Then write a few sentences reflecting on what you learnt about your original prediction. e.g. although i thought people would look at me actually nobody paid the slightest attention. This experiment is best done in a low to medium busy large toilet (e.g. services). The experiment can also be done in cubicles if they are a problem. I have a CBT experiment form for this. If anyone wants me to mail them one, let me know.
A great broadcast, and great taking of an opportunity to get publicity on the back of a topical event. Well done Alex. And what a good reaction from the broadcasters too.
