I completely agree with everything you said.
I'm only offering suggestions for possible options when confronted with the situation.
My recovery mindset is to always look for options that benefit my recovery, or raise public awareness of shy bladder.
My first thought is to let them know I have a shy bladder and politely request the time/privacy I'm entitled to.
So far, when I speak up, people are respectful.
I'd be extremely upset if I encountered cleaners like you mentioned, that wouldn't allow me some time and privacy. My response would be to do something that allows them to realize they aren't achieving their objective (getting me to quickly leave).
In all fairness, in a confrontational situation like that, my anxiety would shoot past the moon and I'd be 100% locked up. But I'd use the opportunity to let the cleaner know they could have achieved their objective by allowing me some time and privacy.
I'd do it either with words or actions.
If I transition to a stall, I can comfortably stand or sit till hell freezes over, whether or not there's any chance I'll whiz. 328
